I love coming to this market! I noticed that this is one of the only locations that accept EBT, the other location near here does not. I'll have to take note of that for next time but each store definitely has their own variety of snacks that I haven't seen at others.
I actually coming to this location over the other Tokyo Central. Its a bit more organized and spacious. They have more home appliance and anime stuff too which is so fun to look at. The service is nice and quick. The market items are a bit pricey. I like this location for their parking and more options of home appliances. Def will be back
I had a work meeting out this way and seized the opportunity to stop by here afterwards to stock up on mochi, tofu, Japanese curry mix, rice crackers, Calpico, shrimp chips, and sushi. I don't go to Asian markets very often so it was fun to go through the aisles. Stuff does add up fast! I like this location better than the Torrance location. I'm looking forward to my next visit in a couple of months after my next work meeting.
Tokyo Central is awesome. This one is on the smaller side so I wouldn't do my main grocery shopping here but it still has great options! So many types of ramen & curry all in one place lol. The cashiers are also friendly & fast. Parking is super available here as well & there are great ready-to-eat options in the back corner.
Loveeeeeeeee this international grocery store. Reminds me of the times I have spent in Japan and it is the only place I can get my Georgia coffee fix. I can buy the big bag of Hi-Chews here now that my son loves them. It is always clean, plenty of parking available and they have clean restrooms in store as well. Yes, certain things might be pricey since they come from overseas but in my opinion it is worth it. Glad to be a regular here!
II liked Marukai a lot and am sorry to see them replaced. Tokyo central is pretty cool, a food hall and market in one location which seems to be a trend these days, with respect to "ethnic" foods in SoCal. More gift shop than foodie spot in my opinion. Next time im looking for that ramen ingredient or that Wagyu beef I know where to find it.
I like this location compared to the other one found on Marukai St because parking is ample and I never have to fight for it. It's generally less crowded as well, so if you want a stress-free open environment come here. I think the inventory is pretty much the same as the other location, but sometimes I hit up both just because I like leisurely browsing. They have a different set of restaurants in their food court which is nice. I need to hit up the Beard Papa's and new Ramen place. My husband and I just grabbed a UCC coffee and yuzu salad dressing on our last visit. Sometimes I'll do my main shopping here, but other times I'll just grab snacks. I've never had to wait long to check out, and the cashiers are always quick and kind!
This is on of the best Asian market in LA. The quality of sashimi you can find here is incredible. Also prices are extremely reasonable.
Let me begin by disclaiming that I love Tokyo Central (both locations) for their convenience and access to authentic Japanese products. TC&M is the smaller market and has fewer grocery items than the bigger store about a mile or so away. It will have most of your Japanese grocery staples but for a bigger variety or more niche items, the bigger store is where you want to go. In addition to foods, it also has a small sections for random Japanese toys (anime figures, plushies, puzzles, stationery), small Japanese kitchen appliances (rice cookers, shabu shabu pots, charcoal grills), and Japanese toiletries (hair and skin products). The bigger store again has more variety and brands. The benefits of this smaller store is that it's usually less crowded and is quicker to get in and out. Aside from the selection, TC&M also has different stores in its food court area than the larger TC plus it sits in a plaza where there are abundant restaurants and eateries. After 730 or 800pm, you will find their daily prepared and packaged food items/meals on discount for 20% off. So I'll often stop by to see what's been marked down to grab for dinner. The service is usually very good so never any complaints there. As many items are Japanese imports, these items are Japan Prices + import fees so some stuff may be pricy... but I've come to expect that.
